Wiggle It Jiggleit won for the third consecutive time last week and remains the unanimous No. 1 in this week’s Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll. The 4-year-old male pacer won the third leg of the Graduate Series by 5-1/2 lengths in a track-record-equaling 1:48.1 at Tioga Downs on Sunday.

The sturdy-gaited Mr Wiggle Pants kept his winning streak intact in the third OSS division, making his triumph his fifth straight for his connections. The son of Mr Wiggles prevailed by a length in 1:51.4, a career best, for driver Kayne Kauffman, finishing a length ahead of the hard-trying Winwood Mac (Darrell Wright).

No bait and switch here. It was as advertised Saturday night (April 16), with Yonkers Raceway hosting the fifth and final preliminary round of the George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series. The highly-anticipated first matchup between Wiggle It Jiggleit and Bit Of A Legend N was so stirring that neither one wanted to be left out of the picture.

Wakizashi Hanover, son of Dragon Again, a winner of 11 races and purses exceeding $1.2 million, was voted Canada’s Three-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year. The $23,000 yearling purchase won Canada’s richest harness race, pacing to a three-quarter length career-best 1:48 win in the Pepsi North America Cup at Mohawk Racetrack.

Harness racing’s Horse of the Year made the most of nearly every month on the calendar. Three-year-old gelding Wiggle It Jiggleit, who on Thursday was named the Dan Patch Award Horse of the Year by the U.S. Harness Writers Association, won his first race of the season in January and continued posting victories through November. In fact, the only month during that span in which he failed to win at least one race was April, when he was given a brief respite before continuing a campaign that concluded Nov. 30 with 22 wins in 26 starts.

Yankee Moonshine was allowed to set the pace through fractions of 27.4, 56.2 and 1:24.3, turning for home with Penpal right off her flank. But, Yankee Moonshine kept on going in the stretch, keeping Blue Moon Stride trapped in the pocket for much of the stretch.

Sugar Valley Farm co-owned Blue Maserati brought $100,000 on the first day of yearling sales at the Pennsylvania Farm and Show Complex in Harrisburg, PA.
Blue Maserati, went into the ring as Hip number 188 and when the hammer finally came down, Tony Alagna signed the ticket.

Wiggle It Jiggleit continued his assault on sub-1:50 miles for a sophomore pacer, annexing a 1:49.4 triumph in the $201,900 Matron male pace. Montrell Teague, who drove his second win on the program, permitted Wakizashi Hanover (Tetrick) to set the early tempo before pulling out in front of the grandstand and annexed command past the half.

Hoosier Park Racing & Casino played host to a stakes-filled card on Friday (Oct. 23) as Grand Circuit racing action made a stop at the seven-eighths-mile oval for the third time this season. The 13-race card was highlighted by divisions of the Circle City Stakes for 3-year-old trotters and pacers and it was harness racing’s top ranked horse, Wiggle It Jiggleit, who stole the show.

It was jointly announced by Bob Marks of Deo Volente Farms and Joe McLead of Sugar Valley Farm that the international superstar Wishing Stone, a winner of the Kentucky Futurity at three and the Copenhagen Cup in Denmark at age five, has been officially retired from racing and will stand stud at Sugar Valley Farm in Delaware, Ohio.
